So this was a picture of the worst of the underside there by the edge, which yikes but its not end of the world especially since it would need service anyway but the sides are in great shape.

not the best photo but it was taken for the bracket on frame and the diff, so unintentional but It shows more. The crossmembers are intact but would need addressing for sure.

Its just setting there on the frame, its not actually on it on it. Also, my gpa very much Intended to put it on it. I would slap him but hes got 6 feet of fortifications atm. Lol
Well, then I guess the slap will have to wait until you are reunited!
Saw a Ford ranger bed grafted onto a 1930's Chevy truck a few months back, looked even worse than what your Grandpa had in mind!

Without seeing it, I believe it LOL.

My gpa never got farther than some cab work and it its been sitting for almost the entire time ive been alive(the plate on the bumper is 2000, the k10 is from the late late 90s when he got it its a 78 my)
Thats why I want to sell the bed. The truck is great I hope to fix that some day but the bed is both too short and I dont have a short bed gmt 400. I would also NEVER hack a frame to make one either. THe entire idea makes me shiver.
my gmt 400 is rusty and long bed single cab and the bed is still there so its better to go to someone who can appreciate it, somehow, than me who is going to let it sit there for a long time doing no one good.

It also has the plastic bed liner, would that add value?

The "over the rail" bedliners just trap and hold moisture, encouraging rust/rot. Ask me how I know...

Bed liner value? Maybe $50 to someone who really really really wants it.

Since I have one and I dont have a short bed truck I was wondering what the relative value probably comes out to be so I could maybe sell it or trade it for a full 8 foot bed of some kind, but I dont want to give it away if its more valuable than i assume. but i also dont want to be a "I KNOW WHAT I GOT" When I infact, do not know what I got.
Minimal rust, bedliner that is plastic, paint is OK at best. says z71 on the back on sides. missing tail lights. missing handle on tailgate for some reason. otherwise its all there, .

I don't know about the stepside bed, but I think I found the perfect bed for your K20.

As I understand it, you live in Wisconsin, so I don't think northern Illinois is too far away from you. Also, this thing has been up for over a month so this guy will probably take any offer for it.
