I've been using Prestone but could not quite flush all the redness out from the ATF. Hopefully that's not an issue
I doubt it will be an issue. I put Max life trans fluid in my Honda Odyssey ps pump because it blew a fitting and I just happened to have bought a gallon of Max Life that morning

I used almost the whole gallon to get home. Fixed the leak, purged the system with a couple quarts of Honda fluid but it's still pink, several years later.

Not the same ps system obviously but you REALLY aren't supposed to put trans fluid in that Honda.

Supposed Chrysler did a study and found no issues with mixing trans fluid and power steering fluid. Both fluids have similar objectives

Don't put ATF in a Honda power steering reservoir. It's like putting ATF in a brake master cylinder. The seals swell and start puking fluid. My wife's Accord was at death's door and I needed fluid in a pinch. It lasted one more short drive and I donated it to NPR.

I agree. I'm not suggesting people do it. But using the ATF got me home, I flushed it the next day. Fluid still looks pink but after several years, no leaks thankfully.

Update - was able to get in contact with Bluetop and they are providing a return label to send it back and have them inspect it. The customer service was timely so I am optimistic they will be able to help. Maybe this is simply a quality control issue due to high demand. I had to put the old box back in the truck since it's my only vehicle, and also so the Bluetop is ready to ship ASAP.

In the meantime I have ordered new power steering lines, and I will probably inspect the pump by removing the serpentine belt and seeing how easily it spins by hand! If all else fails, do you folks know of quality replacement pumps, either new or reman?
Did BlueTop fix your steering box? What was the outcome?

I wound up sending it back twice. First time, because of the issue stated in this thread, second, the pitman seal blew not too long after I had it back. If it wasn't for their fast customer service, and had R&R'd my box for free, I'd be SOL. Cheap rebuilt unit held me over until I received it, because my C1500 is my only vehicle. All back together as of the weekend and doing great but man was it a journey to get here!

I put a bluetop box in an old bumpside* ford, I hated the way it steered. Was super sticky. It matched the engine though.
