My local tire shop carrys them, they are made by cooper in their Ohio plant , 85k mileage guarantee, free replacement up to 50% tread wear for manufacturer defects, and they are about $250 cheaper for the set compared to cooper cobras in the same 275/60-15 size. Reviews say they aren’t great on ice, but I live in Texas and don’t drive on ice lol
Thanks for telling me about the tires.

Yeah, no conscientious tire shop would mount 275s on a 6" rim. You can see the original rims in my signature...

Edited;
Here's what they looked like after a little polish and elbow grease...

That is the same wheel that is on my truck! I am surprised Chevrolet made the same wheel in six inch and seven inch widths.

What product and technique did you use to get your wheels to look that nice? They look great!

Thanks! On the rims I started with some green Scotch Bright pads (by hand) to get the big stuff off. Then a buffing compound, and finally White Diamond.

On the tires I used Bleche-Wite. Be careful with this stuff, it'll etch the metal so, do it 1st.

Then some tire polish like Armor All.

Stick with a highway tread (HT) tire. Falken Wildpeak HT02 is my choice when I don't care about white letters showing. Michelins, Continentals, and Yokohama are also a great choice.

Buy a quality tire to start out with and they'll last longer. Saving $15-20/tire sounds good up front until you're replacing tires 20-30k miles sooner.

A smooth and quiet ride with good wet traction is important to me.
You won't get any better tire for your needs than the factory size. Going from a 75-series to a 60-series will give you a harsher ride. Going wider introduces hydroplaning. 225/75-15 may not be sexy, but those pizza cutters will get good wet traction and a good ride.

I'm running Cooper Cobra Radial G/T 275/60R-15s on my 88. They're nice and quiet plus give you a little more traction. The 90 454SS came with the same size tires on 15X7" rims so, when Discount tire says they can't do that, you can ask them to look it up.

BTW, didn't your truck come with 235/75-15s not 225s?
Quick question, I have a 1993 GMC Tiara conversion truck that came stock with 275/60r-15. The question lies in how do the tires you have wear? Mine always wear in the center, no matter what pressure I have them at.

Well, my right rear is wearing more than the others but, that's me, :biggrin:

Seriously, does all 4 wear the same, or can you rotate more often, check alignment?

Both back tires wear the same. I changed the front to 237/70r15 so rotating them isn't possible. When they were all the same size I did rotate often. They all still wore in the center. That was BF Goodrich tires
