Do your research on a shop first, Find who you are happy with and find out what brand they use. From there post what their
game plan is for materials.
I will. I plan on rebuilding my automatic transmission & TBI unit next month then I will start saving for my truck's paint job.

DBU rocks. I haven't used it in years but it's still the best, most forgiving, base I have ever used. Was putting 2000 or maybe it was 2001 clear over it. Not up on what clears they have these days, The 2020 type clears were used on vehicles where you wanted a bit of peel to match oem, like chrysler products. I don't advocate it but have put multiple other brands of clear over DBU without issue. Once it flashes, DBU is stable, pounding on clear won't refloat or move the metallics like some others.

Look on eBay or autobodytoolmart for Kirker products. Ive been using their stuff almost exclusively ( i like to try different clear coats products) for years and never had a problem. They have a pretty decent variety of everything youn need to get any job done start to finish.

What PPG paint and clear do you like to use when painting an automobile?
PPG has multiple bases and clears. I have used DBU, DBC, and EHP bases and 2020, 2042, 2001, 2000, 3000, 4000 and a few others. Read the tech sheets and find out what will work for your situation. IE: EHP is very hard to use at home unless you have good airflow and heat with low humidity. 2001 is a booth clear, slow to flash without airflow. 2000 & 3000 are to fast for a complete
