Anyone know the purpose of these? They push into the door opening from the inside where the side view mirrors mount. With GM trying to save every penny on their trucks I can’t imagine them putting them in for no good reason. My tow mirrors have one stud that goes through the space where they fit so I’d have to slit them to reinstall them. But why?

Thoughts?

Makes sense. That’s all I could think of. But it’s such a small area and the metal is so thick there that it seems like a very unlikely place to generate noise. Later today I’ll be sticking them back in there.

Thanks for the replies.

They also make things a little more solid where the mirrors mount. Helps prevent them from vibrating or shaking as you drive down the road

Also acts as insulation from the outside temps, cold or hot.
