Hey everyone. Ever since I’ve owned my truck its dome lamp has never worked. I’ve replaced the bulb and it still didn’t work so I just forgot about it. Fast forward now and I just realized my third brake light doesn’t work at all. I ordered an aftermarket one on Amazon but before I installed it I did some reading on here about these two lights being connected. I still haven’t taken anything apart because I’m waiting to figure out what the issue could be. Thanks for any help that y’all can provide.

They are two different circuits. They may both ground to the same point. Check the wire diagram.
You changed the bulb. But did you check to see if there is power to the bulb receptacle. One side is power other ground. You could do power check with known other good ground.
Also the courtesy fuse controls power for under dash and dome light.
Start the easy checks first, if that doesn't work then start the more in depth. Do basics first, don't guess, don't jump back and forth. Wastes time and you won't learn anything.

The light in the glove box works and I checked the fuses and they looked good. Where can I find the wiring diagram?

Normally gm uses orange for 12volts or battery supply and white is the ground. These wires run by the your left side kick panel and sill plate and then up the back side to the dome and 3rd brake light there can be 4 wires or 3 or more depending on what else they have going back there. Because the sill plate is a channel it holds all the crap and if you decide to try take it off use a pick to clean out the hole for the screwdriver if you look under the truck you will see the end of the screws sticking down

This area is usually where the wiring damage happens.. either at the joint between kick panel plastic and the door sill plastic, where the debris makes its way down there and eventually gets compacted into the wiring channel, or from previous work in the channel (people running aftermarket speaker wiring, etc.) and they don't get the wiring back in the channel correctly, and nick/pierce it with the sill screws.
