Yup, I use my largest ball peen and a mini sledge.

Another good idea if it's really stuck is to put a heavy amount of tension on it with the pitman tool and then smack it with both hammers. Some times there's not enough space for this, though.
Yeah that's my problem is I don't wanna tear anything else up on the <expletive> truck that I love so much which would be easy for me in the tight space with 2 hammers and only 1 eye.....I don't trust myself like I did with 2 eyes it's very very different....
But I didn't realize you meant on both sides of each joint, I was thinking you meant on both sides of linkage (like hit Pittman and idler arms at the same time lol)....I decided just to push it to one side and see if the differential will go in and I can just put tie rods back on without taking it on off..... thanks for the input and I'll check back in later....
