maybe it's more a mileage then an age thing.
Quality of available replacement parts is probably part of it too. Even OEM GM/ACDelco isn't what it used to be.

I run Delphi/NTK with no issues with 0411s and P59s. YMMV.My old non 411 truck would run with almost any no name sensors - but the 2002 Workhorse RV which came with a 411 is very delicate - it likes it's OEM sensors.
I tried high end aftermarket, but nope - it doesn't like them.
My bad!Perhaps a moderator will move this thread to the Vortec + Computer Swaps sub-forum.
Its probably best to leave it alone I guess. It runs awesome. I'm on the fence between upgrading to a LQ4 6.0, a vortec 383 stroker, or a new vortec 5.7 and change my gearing... which is another reason I've been pondering the 0411 upgrade. 383 is a much easier swap, but costs a lot. The 6.0 might be a little cheaper, but will take more time. Not my first rodeo with EFI swaps... Comes down to do I want to spend a weekend (5.7 or 383 stroker), or close to a month upgrading my engine to an LS. My 5.7 runs like a top, but shes got quite a few miles on her, so I'm making a game plan.
The power band of the vortec 383 stroker is what intrigues me the most. It's what I also love about my vortec 5.7. Instant torque. The 5.3 in my opinion can't hang with a 5.7 if we are talking pulling power. The 6l80e really helps the 5.3 because it keeps it wound up more efficiently. The 6.0 makes great power, but you still have to stomp on it to get to the torque band. That being said, I've never driven a tuned for towing 6.0, so I don't have the best comparison against my 5.7..Personally 6.0Ls are overhyped by most. 383 or if you are in a mood to re-engineer for a swap grab an 8100. I still find 8.1Ls for half the cost or less of a 6.0.
My 8.1 will run circles around my 6l. Plus it never sees more than 2200 rpm running it easy and gets better milagePersonally 6.0Ls are overhyped by most. 383 or if you are in a mood to re-engineer for a swap grab an 8100. I still find 8.1Ls for half the cost or less of a 6.0.
Both my 2000 Chevy Express 5.7L Vortec and my current 2002 Workhorse 5.7L have the 411. They are idling excellent.
But are picky on sensors as heck. Crankshaft, O2, Knock Sensor, need changing after a couple of years and the 411 only speaks with OEM/ ACdelco.
Otherwise - constant CEL and random errors.
If you switch to 411 - just be prepared - to change all the sensors as well.
