HOW did you "lower it"?

I use hydraulics. Run a bolt though the chain to secure it to the hook. Custom-cut 2X4 prevents the bed from bending inward.

So I had 4 milk cartons set at 4”x4”.
2x4x4’ on edge screwed into 1x5” making a strongback- 2 of these made up sitting on milk cartons directly behind truck. Also fastened to cartons so they wouldn’t tip over. 4 people picked up bed and walked straight back and set it down. I was on front of cab and when lowering it tweaked my back. Because it sits low, using knee and not back didn’t work out too good. I’m fine. Maybe I’ll do like you did, but have my buddy bring his wrecker and pick it up and lower with winch.

Power washed, wire wheeled and Klean Strip Metal Prep sprayed on and soaking for the night. Question- Can Por-15 be intermingled with

Rust-Oleum 344763?

After I wire wheeled, it looked more uniform than what it looks like with metal prep sprayed on. Stuff makes it look weird.

I noticed, I guess it’s a waxy substance that @454cid had mentioned around sender lock-ring. What is that for? Just to keep lock-ring from rusting to tank?

Sender/Pump installed. Instantly fired right up. Painting frame right now with Por-15. After Klean Strip Metal Prep, it says to paint within 48 hours. That stuff really works.

They actually sell these on Summit, but they are about a month to ship. So I got some 5/8” I.D. fuel line hose, thin film of grease on tube, heated hose with heat gun and it went on. Not that easy, but it’s on and will not need clamps, it’s TIGHT! Obviously, for rest of its connections, will get clamps.
