Friends- I completed a really fun adventure with my truck a few weeks back. I’m a die hard air-cooled Porsche guy and I own a few early 911’s and like to drive in a few rally events every year. This year, a friend and I went to the Texas Hill Country Rallye which is an annual 2 day driving event in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. The Rallye was centered in Kerrville at the Y.O. Ranch Hotel and for two days participants grouped up to explore the roads around Kerrville. We drove 300 miles on day 1 and another 250 on day 2. The driving was “spirited.” The evenings involved stories from the day and the normal parking lot chatter and activities one would expect. It was great fun.

Anyways, my 96 K1500 and enclosed aluminum Trailex trailer were fantastic. We did not have one issue over the 3,000+ miles we traveled back and forth pulling the trailer and our cargo. The truck was flawless and mighty popular in central Texas. Way more popular than a 25 year old little German car with the engine out back. Here are a few photos from the week:

My first fast car experience was a ride in a grey market 930 as a teenager in 84, I was hooked. A 911 turbo cab is on my list, but probably a 997 not an air cooled model. (I know, I know)
Which one is yours?

Nice rigs, looks like a fun time was had by all. Your truck looks sweet with the matching trailer!

We drove the Gemini Blue 87 Carrera with the white wheels which is my buddy Frank’s car. He warmed up his motor from a stock 3.2 to a 3.4 also changing the cams, headers and exhaust and very nice KW shocks.

I have a silver 73 911S, a 72 911S/T race car and something else in the works. 997’s are fantastic cars, they are modern but still mostly analog and the right size, not too big like the later iteratIons.

Beef jerky, trail mix and Gatorade kept us nourished (well…sorta‘) along the way. Eventually had some great BBQ once in Texas. Almost worth the drive for that.
