I couldn't get a definitive answer on this after reading multiple threads.. I figured it may help somebody else. I'm down to 2 slip yokes.. after matching parts # and reading u joint specs. Gm parts shows a yoke that looks similar to my oem one. However the u joint specs are bigger then what I measured my bearing cap at.... Amazon list the other "gm yoke " with the dampening wheel as a "will fit". Reading those specs the bearing cap matches my oem size..... however gm parts shows that's not going to fit and list as a gmt800 yoke.... can somebody please tell me which one I need to order...

98 c1500 suburban 2wd 4l60e aluminum 1 piece shaft with what looks like 1-1/16 bearing caps from my tape measure.

I would go with the first one, it looks more like what my Burb has. I've never seen that second style with the wheel on it....so I could believe it was for a later model. Of course the only 800 series I can look at is AWD....

I was thinking that. Funny thing is every vendor that confirms fitment says that doesn't fit my burb.

1. You have an aluminum driveshaft that appears to be too-short judging by the long rusted section not engaged in the transmission.

2. You'll need to measure the cap diameter AND the width of the U-joint to get the correct size. My '97 K2500 uses 1350 joints on the rear shaft, but I bet your C1500 uses smaller joints.

3. Once you know the U-joint size, spline size, OD of the yoke shaft, and overall length, you can find an appropriate yoke. WHY do you need a new yoke? As said...looks to me like you need a longer driveshaft.

4. When/if you replace the U-joints, you will have to buy "special" joints that have "coated" caps, to prevent the steel caps corroding to the aluminum driveshaft yokes.

The yoke and shaft are orginal from factory. As far as the yoke, I was looking for a gm nickel one to replace the current yoke. I appreciate the links. I'll look into it. I was hoping for greaseable joints. You don't think I could have 1330 style?

Short answer, I bet it's that first one you posted. GM part number 07848635.

Long answer with more explanation...

This diagram for a '97-'98 C1500 Suburban with a one piece driveshaft from Nemiga Chevrolet shows two part numbers for slip yokes.

https://nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/epc/chevrolet/54c-c/05/tx05-107/

One of them is that 07848635 you posted, and it has notations of "C1(16)" and "w/out balancer". The other is 88963576 which has a "K1(16)" notation and is mentioned as the fix for a '99 AutoTrac 4WD Yukon with the driveline "clunk" issue in this thread:

https://www.gmt400.com/threads/heres-your-fix-for-the-tahoe-yukon-driveline-clunk.30421/

My best guess, without measuring anything or actually investigating the parts any further... The 07848635 part with the "C1" notation is probably for "C" designated 2WD trucks, and the 88963576 part mentioned in the driveline clunk thread is probably for the "K" 4WDs.

Since OP's truck is a lifted 2wd, that might account for the "extra" rusty part(that's not engaged in the transmission tailshaft housing)? My Burb has the same transmission and rear axle, and last time I looked at it, front yoke was in the "normal" amount. My Burb is stock height though....
