Thanks for the info on speakers. How about rear view/back up cameras? What specs are important? It seems when comparing cameras the MFG will mixup between lux, pixels, HD, HDR, etc... I have no idea what all of these terms mean and what is actually important. Anyone have good advice?

I’ve had 3 so far on this truck In a couple month. There are lies, damn lies and specifications to paraphrase. The honest truth is you can’t believe anything you see or read regarding specs.
the unknown brand one one my truck came with worked fine with the Dual brand radio. Seemed to be HD.

new pioneer head unit didn’t like that one at all. Wouldn’t show an image from it.
wound up running new wiring from tail to dash to install the pioneer SD one for reverse, and aded a BOYO brand as a front camera. The Boyo seems crisper to me than the pioneer, but at the end of the day, none of them are as good as an OEM factory camera on a 2015 etc, (though I’d say the Boyo is closer than others) but also it doesn’t super matter On a 6.5”SD screen instead of 10 or 12” HD screen. Look at a few in stores and demo boards, or that friends have, and if like me you have no friends, try the Boyo on Amazon. They’ve been around for decades, amd are good quality, especially for $25-30 on amazon

how long are you really in reverse? 5 seconds? You should be just using it to fill in the blind spot behind the tailgste, and should be using the mirrors to see everything else Instead of relying on the camera, imo.

I hear ya and agree. I will check out Boyo. My biggest thing is that I didn't want the video to be washed out by the sun, which maybe is inevitable in some cases. Also to be able to see at night.

I want to be able to back up the the tongue of the trailer without getting out of the truck 8 times and I want to back into parking spaces with a little better assurance that I am not going to hit the car behind me or be sticking to far out of the spot because I am not in far enough.

That's what i use mine for mostly. I would suggest if that is your main use, it would be better on a toggle switch rather than only on In reverse. It's really annoying to have to pull forward a couple inches and not see till you put it back in reverse, or to not know if it moved too much when you put her in park, until you get back there.

Good point. That is one of my questions when looking at head units. It looks like some of them allow you to access the rear camera via a touch button on the screen as well as having the reverse trigger.

My sony unit has the option to view the rear camera at any time

I’m assuming these are 194 light sockets for the floor mounted 4x4 shifter.

Are they in the illumination/dimmer circuit? Or are they indicators?

I believe they are indicators. The one closer to the firewall only lights up when 4x4 is engaged. Pretty sure the other one is on in 2wd without the lights on.
