Last we heard he was pushing his truck to the gas station. And prices have gone up since last February.

She, not he, lol, but also been dealing with long COVID for the last year, which has drastically limited my amount of work I can do.

Actually came back to post an update today. Got a replacement transmission and repaired transfer case popped in a few months back, had to replace the trans cooler lines, they were defective, and were leaking. So for that done today, and actually got the truck to move for the first time in 2 years. Discovered the front brake lines were shot, the parking brake gave up over the last 2 years of it being parked, and for some reason, I'm getting weird codes now on the trans. Going to go back out when I can to check all my wires and make sure everything is hooked up right. Such as transmission temp high voltage, TCC locked up, and a few others, I didn't make a note of them yet, cause it states to rain, and I wanted to get inside. I did do the ECU ground wiring fix, and I'll need to check that as well, to make sure I did it correctly.

I do have a random misfire happening as well, it cleared up after idling a bit, but then it came back for some reason. Also, I managed to lose one of the plugs for the drivers side pre cat o2 sensor, so I need to dig back into the wiring to find that plug, thankfully the wiring is mostly easy enough to get to down there.

I have since discovered as well, every single bushing will need to get changed, which makes sense. The rust is way worse than I originally thought as well, after cleaning a lot of the dirt off the underside and the frame. The body rust makes me mad everytime I see it, since before my parents took it, it has zero rust on the body or frame.

Glad your better Saren42! And welcome back. I have a 96 K1500 too.
I wouldn't say better, but... I do what I can, when I can. Which usually amounts to about 2-3hr of work on the truck a week or so. This the mess this truck seems to be, is extremely frustrating, and it's always one thing after another. Since everytime I touch it now I find something new I need to fix/replace, lol.

So, further updates.

I undid the VMC transmission ground TSB "fix" and it made the trans codes go away (nice), but the truck won't stay running, it will start after sitting over night but stalls after a minute or 2. Fuel pressure is *LOW* but it hold, so I don't think it's the regulator. Picked up a fuel pump to throw in it, but of course, the front strap broke on the tank, and the rear one, well, the nutplate for that broke and is spinning free, and can't get enough pressure off the strap to get the other end unhooked. So, guess I'm buying a new set of straps (needed to anyways, they were rusted to ****). Thankfully the tank only has a few gallons in it, so it won't be particularly hard to maneuver around though.

I do need to try to figure out what's going on with the 4wd system, the Tech II scanner is saying it's in 4lo, which... isn't ideal. I'm gonna have to dig into the wiring and figure out why. The push buttons on the dash, don't light up, and don't seem to do anything either. Gonna just have to start chasing wires, ugg.

START by verifying every fuse, including the big ones. Same with fusible links, and circuit breakers.

Yeah, already went through and did that, gonna do the relays as well, when I get a chance to setup a jig to do it in.

Thankfully, I got a year long sub for alldata for the truck, for cheap a month ago, so atleast I got that going for me, lol.

So, had some time and energy, was digging around trying to figure out the issues, and discovered the fuel pump dies, when the underhood fuse and relay box gets jostled. Which seems... I need to check the wiring from the oil pressure switch to see if that's actually sending power to the fuel pump as well. Since, between the relay and the oil pressure switch, is the 2 sources of power for the fuel pump, and that would explain *all* the previous stalling issues with the truck as well. Hurray for having to chase wiring across the rusty underside of the damn thing lol.
