Okay so I understand making a change to a part that experiences wear, anyone who would rather replace the whole windshield over a pair of rubber strips probably has too much money and not enough brains.

But does anyone actually know how long it takes for these things to wear down?

So I just called a glass shop yesterday and they quoted me $279 they mobile also but if close I may just rather go to shop and see the glass beforehand or chat that I’m not looking for cheapness I want quality and as close as possible to factory as I can get! I might call another place today as when I’m waiting for kids to get out of school. An if anyone has just had it done and it’s the way it’s supposed to be what glass was used and did it come with all bits necessary to make replacement correct? Thanks I know it’s a long posting lol
You'll find most are Chinesium these days, regardless of brand. :(

I was quoted about the same price as you back when I had my 96's windshield replaced. I absolutely hated the replacement windshield and wished I would've kept the cracked one tbh, every time I went to the car wash and got the wax option, my wipers would skip terribly. Plus, something I noticed was when I cleaning the windshield with a microfiber is I would get a lot of static from it and wasn't slick like the factory glass.

I'm on my 3rd windshield in my Mustang (Oklahoma hail storms), and the replacement windshields just aren't the same quality as the factory windshield. Functionally they haven't been bad, just fragile. WCJr's windshield is new, and I haven't had any problems with it. My only concern is if they're too thin.

I'm guessing the wax f'ed with the blades, which is weird because with the OEM windshield it didn't do it. When the wax wore off, the wipers were fine again, so I'm not sure what was up with that, lol.

I just replaced my windshield in my daily driver last Fall and 3 months later it got a chip and it spread halfway across the windshield before I even got home to try to fix the chip! This cheap glass sucks. Talking with other people at work, some go through 1 windshield or more every year!
