Received my Dr. Colorchip rock chip repair kit today. Supposed to be a real high quality product. I’ve got a couple spots I want to touch up in the coming days. Thank god it’s white. Once that’s done I can finally get the exterior detailed. It’s been killing me having it dirty, but I wanted to have the paint touched up before getting it washed and ceramic waxed.

Also decided on a lowering kit. I’m going to get the DJM 5/7 kit, install an under bed mini notch from Reklez, and use the Belltech pinion angle kit. Going to order the Reklez notch soon since it’s got a bit of a lead time and I don’t want to run myself short on wrenching time to get this done by October.

Crawled under my truck tonight and removed the inspection plate on the trans. Yep, rear main seal is weeping. Nothing major but enough to make a mess of things over time. Truck needs a new oil pan and I’m using a bit of oil (1 qt every 3000 miles) so I think next spring I’ll yank the engine out and go through it. The only upgrade I’ve contemplated is vortec heads. Would be sweet if I could find an intake from a van with vortec heads and TBI so I don’t need to use an aftermarket one.

Been a minute. Haven’t done too much to the GMC as of late. Got new General Grabber tires for it and an alignment.

I think my oil consumption is either: valve seals (puff of smoke on startup) or intake gaskets. On interstate trips with prolonged high rpm cruising it tends to more oil than town or local cruising. I was planning on upgrading heads, cam, TBI, etc. but for now I’m just going to refresh the stock motor with all new gaskets, oil pan, pump, rebuild TBI, etc.

Still planning on lowering it next year and driving the hell out of it after that.

Well, the time is getting near. At the end of March I’m ordering all my 5/7 drop components. I’ve settled on DJM for the front, Tin Works Fabrication for the rear, DC Fab for the notch, and Belltech for the shocks, rear sway bar, shock extenders and upper shock relocation kit, and I think a 1” lift shackle for the rear.

I was also thinking about paint for the engine. I want a bit more color under the hood. I was thinking about matching my interior color. I looked up GM paint colors for 1995 and thought 15259 or 20051 would look good. I would just paint the valve covers and air cleaner housing. Obviously I’ll have to get some high temp paint. Thoughts?

Absolutely paint it unique! My S10 Xtreme is painted the Indigo blue body color and Pearl our 3500hd will have her engine painted Toyota Speedway blue.

Curious on the choices for the rear drop parts - why not Belltech?

Whichever way you go, it's hard to go wrong dropping an ECLB, they look great! A real assault on the senses for those used to seeing dropped RCSB and ECSB all the time.

Ultimately I settled on Tin Works because I could buy just the flip kit from them. With belltech I couldn’t buy just the flip kit, I had to get the notch as well. I even emailed them and asked. I’ve read/heard good things about Tin Works, too. The cost is similar to piecing together a kit vs. buying Belltech’s. I will give it another look before I start buying.

That truck looks great. I have been casually looking for an Escalade front clip for mine.

Today I purchased my drop components.

Belltech:
Upper/lower shock relocation brackets
Drive line angle kit
Street performance shocks
Rear anti swaybar

Tin Works:
Flip kit

DC Fabrication:
Under bed notch for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks

DJM:
2” lowering springs
3” spindles

That was the easy part. Now I’ve just got to find the time to install it.
