I have used but not in the gmt 400.

from what my ears tell me the worst place for noise intrusion is the back cab wall itself, the rest seems pretty decent (assuming you have carpet and headliner)

eventually I will ”dynamat” that area with a butyl rubber product, not an asphalt/tar one (peel n stick is tar) from a home improvement store. The idea is additional mass lowers resonant frequencies, and the elastomeric properties of the rubber binder absorbs it, while the semi rigid foil backing provides a decoupling layer.
I called Dynamat's tech line yesterday morning. I asked their employee what area gave you the "best bang for the buck" and he told me to apply the Dynamat Xtreme to the back of the cab wall first and then the doors. He suggested covering the floor of the cab after covering the cab wall and doors.

I used Dynamat in my old 94 when I installed a nice system in it. Put it in top to bottom, it was almost eerie it was so quiet. Helped with the temperature as well.
That truck was where I got my screen name, it was my SONIC TEMPLE.

You did a very nice job applying the product!! Did you have any problems getting the interior to go back into place after the installation?

Thanks for the offer but I have one box of Dynamat that has been in my garage cabinet for 15 years. I thought I would use it in the cab of my 1989 Silverado.

Could you tell a difference after you applied the product?
Yes, in the pickup there was less road noise. The suburban is nearly finished and I will post up my experiance after my next road trip.

Where in your red truck did you install the sound dampening?

Mainly in the doors, but it's also got some scrap pieces around the inside of the center console. Not sure if that made any difference, but they were going in the trash anyway.

Where did you apply the sound deadener? Do you think it made a big difference and was worth your time and money?
I was more concerned with heat insulation then noise, which was the primary purpose. But it does have the same or better sound dampening. This stuff is 314 mils thick, compared to 80 mil dynamat. Being in Texas, id say it was worth every penny

I used fat mat when I did my ‘92. It was easy to install and I definitely noticed a difference when going down the road. I did the floor only. I should’ve done the back of the cab. When I do my ‘95 I’ll be using Noico 80mil butyl rubber, 150mil closed cell foam, and mass loaded vinyl on the floor. In the doors, on the roof, and back of the cab I’ll just apply the butyl rubber and closed cell foam.

Soffseal has a 4'x6' sheet of sound deadener that's only $27 on Summit. I put it in WCJr and I'm putting it in Roscoe as well.

It takes two sheets to do a regular cab. I did the floor all the way up to the HVAC box, the rear of the cab, and I put some in the doors.

For Roscoe I also bought some thin stick-on damper for the roof. I cut a cardboard template, and then marked and cut the material to fit. I haven't finished the body work, but once I do I'll stick it on.

Total cost - about $121, shipped.
