Stock radio does not work. I pulled from the center of the dashboard (under heater vents) a JVC Multi-Changer Control Receiver. It was partially connected to the bundle of cables shown in my hand, including two inline fuses. Whatever this unit controlled is no longer in the truck. How best to sort this out. I only care about AM/FM. I could also play music or radio from my iPhone, either by cable or Bluetooth. I am open to suggestions. Thanks

You could buy a Scoshe or Metra, single DIN radio receiver adapter. Shop for a single DIN new radio, Panasonic, Sony, Alpine, whatever. Get an adapter plug from Metra, scoshe, whoever. Wire it up, easy.
I did this in my 93 GMC, I also found the dash cubby hole junk pocket and installed underneath so looks like factory installation.
Good luck!

Looking online for single DIN receiver adapter, I came across the one shown in the photo. Is this the location I should be looking to fill with a replacement radio, or should it go where the stock radio is located? Thanks

I went with the center relocated area, as then my wife could also tune and change disc. Installed the cubby hole.
And the receiver I purchased was pioneer with remote so easy to tune radio or XM.
Good luck!

Retrosound radio will fit in factory location. Plays AM/FM & does Bluetooth.

+1 on the Retrosound. If all you want is AM/FM and Bluetooth, you can get the base model Retrosound receiver for about $235 from Crutchfield. I went with the $400 model for the added functionality and outputs. Removing the old unit and installing is a bit tricky, but Crutchfield and Retrosound both send good directions.

Digging some more today, I pulled out the radio from the dash and learned that it was not connected. I show the connector next to the radio in the photo. I pulled out the tangle of wires, connectors, and fuse holders, disconnecting the black, blue, and yellow connectors shown. I thought perhaps one of these connectors would match the radio connector, but all are female connectors. I was hoping to connect the radio to see if it works. If I apply 12 Volt power to the red and black wires, should it power up?

Have you located the radio processing unit in the dash? The dash module is just the faceplate for it. The other is further in the dash on a bracket. Everything plugs into that and is processed there for output.

Yes, above the accelerator pedal is the unit shown in the picture. I don’t see the connections, though there are some unused connections in the side of this unit.

That's it. Mine is removed from my truck and not used after my Retrosound install. I'll look when I get home this afternoon to see what needs to be connected there.
