Has anyone used Dynamat soundproofing in their GMT400? Does it actually reduce road noise? Is it worth the time and expense to install the product if your goal is to reduce road noise?

Yes it works, BUT....there are way cheaper alternatives to be had at your "big box" hardware stores. A quick google search for "dynamat alternative" will yield a bunch of different results. Usually a asphalt based sticky roofing material.

I have done one pickup and the rear half of my Suburban. I tried 3 different brands all 80 Mil. The last brand I used was Canopus from Amazon. It was less expensive and applied exactly the same as the other brands. It comes in silver and black ( I used the black) it also come in different size sheets. A bit of searching will yield the best cost per square foot.

If you are interested I can look up the other brands that I used.

I have used but not in the gmt 400.

from what my ears tell me the worst place for noise intrusion is the back cab wall itself, the rest seems pretty decent (assuming you have carpet and headliner)

eventually I will ”dynamat” that area with a butyl rubber product, not an asphalt/tar one (peel n stick is tar) from a home improvement store. The idea is additional mass lowers resonant frequencies, and the elastomeric properties of the rubber binder absorbs it, while the semi rigid foil backing provides a decoupling layer.

I used Dynamat in my old 94 when I installed a nice system in it. Put it in top to bottom, it was almost eerie it was so quiet. Helped with the temperature as well.
That truck was where I got my screen name, it was my SONIC TEMPLE.

Thanks for the offer but I have one box of Dynamat that has been in my garage cabinet for 15 years. I thought I would use it in the cab of my 1989 Silverado.

Could you tell a difference after you applied the product?
