Before you start spending any money give this a try.
Put your shifter in 3rd gear and drive around for a few days or a whole tank of gas.
If it pulls hills great and your happy with how it holds speed.
Then you got a idea on how it would normally act in overdrive with 5.13s within a few rpms of the 4.10s in 3rd.
I am going to have to save for a bit before I do any thing plus I still have to get the ting running first and it there is no doubt it will be driven for a bit I am ready to pull my hair out with vicegrips with that one all I can say is I now know why when people go from diesel to gas they go carb or aftermarket efi and if they have a electronic automatic they get a stand alone deal or switch to a no electronic trans some might even swap in a manual

I would put a holley ECU on it and ride. It can control MPFI on the big block and the 4l80 no problem.

do you mean a whole efi system or just a computer do you have a link?

if it was solely up to me these are what I would get https://www.ebay.com/itm/1840372377...Wb1CYAKbxZYzTeE4C22pYd+w==|tkp:Bk9SR6yMhe3bYQ https://www.ebay.com/itm/3139389502...J582xu2HYpx69wtxnxHIBKXA==|tkp:Bk9SR_yrj-3bYQ https://www.ebay.com/itm/2557385499...im6JtKZedQZxYxlCM%3D|ampid:PL_CLK|clp:2047675 and electrical nightmare over but seeing as it is not solely my project I can not call all the shots

The terminator x max could control it all. But would need a MPFI intake manifold for port injection. I'm not well versed on the big blocks tho so not sure what would be needed.

I've tuned some Turbo big blocks with Holley dominator ECUs in race cars but they had some high dollar intake manifolds with 16 and 24 injectors.

So you’re putting a 383 in this and if you have the right cam and cylinder heads you won’t have any issues for low end torque as this setup has it upto 5000 or so before it falls off a 350 will have the same hp just not the torque and hopefully you guys used the 6” rods. Every build Ive seen with multiple different hydraulic roller cams are all very close where the hp and torque are with street type cams on the dyno. Camshafts are like turbos the bigger you go the farther up in the rpm range before you start hitting the powerband and obviously a bigger cam would change what you need for a cylinder head as you need to maintain port velocity in/out of the engine

Thought he was going with the 454?
that is correct I have a gen v 454 have no idea where 383 came from or if it is directed at me or not if it is directed at me heads are not in the budget a flat tappet version for the cam that is in the ht502 crate engine would be nice though

I think you mentioned your buddys truck had a 383 or something.

had a buddy ask me about a turbo for his 454 so got to start digging into that whole ordeal. he rode with me last weekend in a 2005 silverado crew cab that i was tuning with a 5.3 block bored to 3.902 with a 4" crank = 383. With a 228/228 turbo cam and 78mm turbo.
Put a tacoma on the trailer and hauled it around tuning the low rpm high load area and he was impressed with how it pulled hills locked in 4th. (4l80E)

yes I helped him pick parts for a rebuild he did not get a 383 he got a 357

454 turbo sounds fun I think twin turbo would be even better if the funding is there

I had thought that pulling/towing/hauling in OD was one of the worst thing you could do to an automatic and leads to early failure and you should not do it unless you absolutely have to
