Found the source of my mystery vibration, carrier bearing is going out, it's got a couple centimeters of play left and right; going to drive it to work and home at the bare minimum just to get some miles on it and maybe next weekend throw a new bearing on.
It's kind of complex to replace yourself unless you have a press and the right setup to use it for drivelines... local shop swapped a new bearing in mine for $40.... fwiw.

Was it a drive line shop that did it? There's no drive line shops around me anymore; at least none that are close to my house. There was a place that made custom driveshafts but they closed up a couple years ago.
It's something my buddy can do so I'm not too vexed about it, I'll probably get tires balanced at the same time. They're in desperate need of a good machine balance, my friend who helped swap tires did his best but he said he wasn't exactly confident in the accuracy of the balancer he has.

Oh! I should also add in the truck probably needs a new hydro boost! The current one is leaking out where the two pieces of the HB bolt together, the optimistic side of me thinks I'll just throw a seal kit at it and everything will be fine and dandy; but the realist in me knows what's going to need to happen.

Take it from me, I tried resealing, it didn't work out. I got a rebuilt unit from AutoZone.. leaked there again. The second one I put a bunch of grease in that bore at the weep hole because I figured the seal was probably rubbing on the dry, not-very-smooth, metal.

It's weeping again already. My steering box leaks at its lower seal anyway too so I can't tell how bad it really is.

But at least there's not going to be any rust on my frame rail

I've been looking to see if there's any company that will rebuild a hydroboost; I'm tempted to pull one out of the salvage yard but I'll probably just cough up for a NAPA one. I wonder if I should do the lines from the PS pump while it's all apart and try to take out as many birds as I can with a handful of stones.

It was a driveline shop. Portland is on its way to becoming hell on earth but living close still has its benefits. If your Buddy knows what he’s doing you should be fine.

Also fwiw, I rebuilt my hydro boost on my 6.5 burb way back in the day with the same leak you are experiencing… just swap out the one leaky seal and don’t touch the rest…. I had good luck with that repair for years until I sold it- worth a try imo, especially on a secondary rig that can sit and has been sitting that you don’t need, in case the repair doesn’t work. Seal kit is $35…
And definitely do the lines while you’re there.

I had a dealer do mine on my ECLB 2500 when I first got it. It was inexpensive. Don’t have the invoice in front of me, though.

Drove the truck to work at lunch, started shaking so bad it almost thought a wheel was about to come off, pulled into the work parking lot and checked everything over, crawled under and pushed on the driveshaft,
CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK
I pushed the shaft around and sure enough, carrier bearing is toast. Dropped the truck off at my buddy's shop and there it'll sit until he gets to it, I asked him to take a look at the HB while it was there.

To be honest, all these issues I'm running into don't surprise me that much. This truck was obviously neglected before it was impounded, plus a lot of the stuff I've had to replace seems to be OE equipment, and with over 200K and the last bit of it's life before my ownership not being a "gentle" life I'm truly shocked there's not more wrong with the truck. All it's going to take is a little time and a little money and I'll have it dialed up. I hope...
