What ended up being the boost issue?
The boost solenoid is sticking. Usually that is from rust on the check ball. I had already replaced it with one that I had. Things like this happen when these sit and this one had been sitting since 2020. That is also why I suspected a plugged sock in the tank when we started having issues right after going through a really rough section of road.

The boost sensor AKA MAP sensor hasn't failed again but I have another one that I'm going to install.

I'd put just over 1000 miles on the HD hoping that issues would pop up but once we dealt with the original boost issues it had been flawless.

How did it read so much boost though? You didn't seem to believe the readings it was spitting out. Were those 2 or 3 bar MAP sensors factory?

We walked inside to find out that they hadn't even bothered to go over to the distribution center to get the PMD yet. Wonderful, just freaking wonderful.
But wait, on the outside of the box is clearly written Napa new return… ominous? Yep.
headed to Wally World to finally buy some Allen wrenches. Trying to find an employee who has the keys to unlock the case to get them was a chore in itself.
They wouldn't let my wife check in because I was the one who made the reservations. Grrrr.
she'd had the hotel make us breakfast burritos with turkey sausage because we don't do pork. We had a few bites and suddenly both of us felt like crap. Yep, pork sausage.
Apparently California can't figure out that 85th street should actually be a street instead of someone's gated driveway.
The starter had been replaced and someone didn't put the support bracket on that keeps the starter from torquing and it sheared off one of the bolts.

The world is run by "C" students...

made some calls during all of this and I spoke to a young lady at Advance Auto Parts in Lancaster who actually had a PMD on the shelf! She pulled it, confirmed the part number and description. Online they showed that it wasn't available. I didn't get her name but if by chance the lady with the long black hair ever sees this, THANK YOU!
I had told him my plan on how to load a 83" wide truck between 81" wide fenders and he had a better idea. A pair of forklifts and a tractor made life much easier.

...but I'm glad you found some "A" students.

Real Mexican food doesn't wreck your guts. All the time.
Yup.

That is a 2 bar sensor but it is impossible for a 6.5 to produce that much pressure from a stock turbo. If it did I'd be able to inspect the head gaskets from the drivers seat!

I have a 1968 c30 with the same 5/10 lug pattern and I’d like to do the same axle swap using an f450 Dana 80 and converting the front hubs to 8 lug then 10 lug.
I want to do this for a few reasons. Better brakes, better gear ratio(currently 6.17:1) and modern 10 lug wheel pattern.
It's worth noting that the 05-16 10 lug 450/550 used a Dana S110 in the rear. The 99-04 450/550 and 08-10 F450 pickup used a Dana 80 with a large 8 lug pattern. 17+ uses a 10 lug Dana M300.
I was looking into it a while back and failed to find any 99+ Ford configuration that came with a 10 lug Dana 80 rear to match the Super 60 front.

Glad to see you got your axle donor, 100% agree on keeping the cab and frame matching. Don't know why people seem to think moving ALL the cab mounts is so much easier than adding link mounts and coil buckets to a frame. Much easier to keep track of which components need replacements from which vehicle this way.
Really looking forward to seeing progress on the ultimate GMT400 tow rig.

Remember that PMD that I bought a week and a half ago? It failed. I started the truck this morning and it was running good as I headed to the house. I heard it pick up rpm and start surging. I shut it off and turned it back on. Same thing. I plugged the scanner in and all of the data was normal with no codes. I shut the truck off in popped in the overheating PMD and it was perfect. I plugged the new one back in and surging. I swapped PMD cables just in case and I had the same results. 6.5 life...

Nope. That one failed completely just outside of Lancaster. This is the one that we bought in Lancaster at Advance Auto Parts. Surprise, surprise, that part was updated 2020-2021 and now the part number ends in xd. I'll have another one here on Friday but it cost me $36 more.
