I have a 1994 Chevy k1500 with the 5.7, I knew I had an exhaust leak but didn’t realize it was this bad.

The truck runs good (no check engine light) but the performance is terrible, could this be why?

Right off the manifold like that it might. But I've never really noticed a power loss with leaks....

What are we seeing here. It looks broken off to me. Maybe it's the picture angle?

Ehhh...I don't see that as a performance problem. I see it as a noise/stench/damage-to-nearby-parts problem.

OTOH, if you've roasted a plug-wire or two, sure--there's your performance issue. But it doesn't look like the plug wires are cooked from exhaust heat.

Look around for cooked starter wiring or anything else in the area of the exhaust leak.

Verify fuel pressure, connect a scan tool. Verify ALL the sensors and computer outputs.

How old are the usual "tune-up" items--cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs? Fuel and air filters? PCV system? Verify ignition timing and timing advance.

I’ve only had this truck for 6 months. 372,000 miles. The cap, wires and plugs were done recently before I got it. It runs really well at idle but If I try to give it the beans shes a let down.

I was hoping that fixing the shattered manifold would help with the performance but she’s not a hot rod she’s a grandpas truck so not too worried about performance.
