Well got fuel yesterday. I used the Torque app and my bluetooth OBDII reader to show GPS mileage vs. odometer. Difference was 7.2%. So I used that figure to calculate my actual miles for the trip meter, and got a 9.8mpg over about 240 miles. Not as bad as I expected, but still not amazing. Overall not too upset by it. Does make it an expensive daily though.

Just do what i do and don't worry about it if you're driving what you want, But i do only drive 4 miles to work and back during the week;)
I drive about 30 miles/day for work, plus whatever exploring I do on the weekend.

My actual daily is a 2002 Impala. It's just down for some work for a few weeks. I almost sold the Impala once I got the truck running. I decided to do the math, and the fuel savings from driving the car over the truck would pay for the car in 18 months. That was before this past year of super high gas prices, and also over 18 months ago. So the car has already paid for itself. Once it's running again it'll be my daily. I'll just drive the truck whenever I want, and have it available for weekend trips.

Essentially I have a set up where I don't have to worry too much about the price of gas on a normal basis, and still get to enjoy the truck whenever I want.

This week I got my Cunningham Machine steering shaft, as well as my Ebay tow mirrors.

I haven't had a chance to install the steering shaft yet, but I am excited to do it this weekend.
Let us know how you like the steering shaft. I have door pin bushings and rollers from them. The quality seemed good and so far they are holding up.

I installed the steering shaft today, but haven't had a chance to take it for a test drive yet. Overall it was a fairly easy install. Took about 30 mins without looking anything up first. I'll update after I drive it tomorrow.

Also found another 99 K2500 Suburban, 4l80e, 7.4 vortec for sale. Considering buying it for parts. It has a few things I would like, as well as stuff to sell. It has a blown freeze plug, and possible headgasket leak. Asking price is $1000, thinking about offering $750.

Did my first actual drive with the new steering shaft, and what a game changer. My drive to from work/gym is about 14 miles. 10 of which is a 4 lane road 65mph, and ALWAYS has a cross wind. There are also a railroad track crossing on this road, as well as another closer to work, and an active barrier that feels like crossing a railroad track. It was extremely difficult to predict exactly what the steering was going to want to do at any of those crossings(not dangerous just different).

Well today I drove to the gym and back, and I wasn't having to constantly adjust the wheel. Even though I was fighting the wind, minor 1/4 inch movements in the steering wheel were enough to keep everything running straight down the road. At the crossings the truck just continued on like all of my other vehicles do.

I have read of other people piecing together an equivalent shaft, but I will say with my current schedule the Cunningham Machine steering shaft is well worth the money.

I was even a little skeptical when I pulled out my rag joint, and it didn't seem as loose as I expected. 100% would put this in any GMT400 I get in the future.
