My previous truck was a 2000 K3500, SRW. It had a regular cab and 8 foot bed, with a 5.7 Vortec. I sold it a few years back because state inspection was coming up, and it needed about $3,000 worth of work, which I couldn't afford to do within a short time span.

Parts for a K3500 (like brake parts) were definitely more expensive than my 6-lug K2500.

My fondest memory of that truck was taking it out after a foot-deep snowstorm to play with the 4wd. With BF Goodrich All Terrain KO2s, it was a beast in the snow.
Yup 8 lug stuff is always a bit pricey, but on the other hand, it's made pretty beefy and should last longer.... that's what I'm figuring anyway, based on my old 8 lug 2500 Burb.

Because it’s a gear drive no chain. And I don’t do any off roading with it. I did a dodge with a Cummins years ago but was a divorced transfer case. This will be connected
Understood...I've had a couple myself, and the fact was I never needed a super low 'crawl' ratio. Hell, I rarely need four low either. However, the three sticks look cool, right? Lol.

Gonna need a local scout, I suppose that's why he posted here...

@Pro439 & @shovelbill. Rottenchester checking in.
Same in the local boneyards here. I havent seen any 400 trucks in any kind of good shape in 15 years. Anything usable is hidden in garages, or turned into plow trucks long ago. But hey, at least they got their second life. The 800 trucks went straight to rot in their first 75k miles!

Only way to find what O.P. is looking for is a way down south, or a garage queen. That's where I found my C2500 18 months ago.

Howdy, fellow 'not in NYC' New Yorker...I was going over my truck yesterday and now see how far into rust and rot she has fallen over the last three years. When I got her in early '16, she was absolutely sound. I'm quite upset as to what I'll have to do in the near future. I've been in survival mode since the plandemic hit, and the truck never reached the 'triage' list. I agree with everything you've stated.
