Just to let you know that I have a 90 that is an HD rated at 8600 lbs while the standard is 7200. I found this out when I ordered a standard upper control arm, which is stamped. I had to return it for the HD, which is solid. They might not have called it HD but the option was there.

In the 4wd world, NO upper arms are stamped.

In Texas I think it's weight based, but I know the smaller single axle trailers don't require brakes. I would figure most states require brakes on a double axle trailer, since the ones U Haul has do have surge brakes. That's what the #6 or #7 pin on the big trailer connector is for (powering the electric brakes).
In Oklahoma, a double axle trailer does not require brakes. I have a four-pin connector on my 16' car hauler, and yes, it's sketchy. I'd like to rewire it with brakes and a 7-pin connector.

Apologies for reviving an old thread.

Since i'm planning a 454 swap into my c6p k2500 with a 350 and just to be clear the info i got from here are right and from reading this thread, If I do swap a full floater with a 4.10 along with the springs and and torsion bars i can say my truck is a 10k rated truck?

Im not going to tow 10k just want to make sure that the only difference between my 1991 350 TBI k2500 and the 10k ones are a 7.4 and a full floater?

10k as in tow rating or GVWR? For tow ratings, see the owner's manual. They seemed to emphasize power output for tow ratings more than anything. For GVWR, you're stuck where you are. Do what the truck tolerates, you'll know when it's not happy.

Thanks man for the reply.

Im not looking to make the truck tow more.

Just wanting to know the difference between my truck and the 454 and ff ones.

What made GM rate the bbc trucks more? A 4.10 full floater and a bbc? Just for my curiosity and knowledge.
