all the "factory" crew cab 3500HD's were originally single cabs. The cabs and frames were stretched by GM (no other contracted companies). If you run a 4 door 3500HD vin, it will come back as a two door.

I don't believe they ever made an extended cab 3500HD, not at the factory anyway. I'm sure there have been some custom made.
There's a yard in the Fort Worth, Texas area (Kennedale) called Apache, that has a crew cab 3500 HD in it, with a work body on the back. Not sure how complete it is. I saw it on a video (the first of 3 he did on this yard) that Benny of Classic Ride Society did on YouTube, around the first of the year. I wish the DFW was closer to me in H Town, because it looked like it had a complete tan interior....I would like to have spares for all the CC specific interior trim, before I try to tackle the headliner replacement.

We see what happens here. I found a 10 lug F450 with the gears that I want but not the price that I'm willing to pay. It is complete with the exception of whatever bed that it had on it. As is typical the 6.4 diesel is dead. I made a very low offer compared to his price but it is a commercial truck that doesn't run and can't be registered in California so it is worthless to anyone in California for anything other than parts.

He countered my offer but I held to my offer. He said that he would consider it. It would be 1400+ miles round trip and we would have to take the 3500hd to tow the trailer because of what happened with sway and the Suburban. That is a lot of fuel and most likely 2 nights in a hotel. Fuel, food and hotel would be $1000.

If this does happen it'll be pushing its limits because truck and trailer alone are 12k pounds and the f450 is a crew cab but it doesn't have a bed.

He just counter offered again at $500 more than my offer. This was my response.

Sorry but I have to be firm on my offer. I'm losing a day of work and between fuel, food and hotels I'm looking at $1000 round trip. I can be there Sunday.

Hey Richard, how does the F450/550 ride compared to the 3500hd? I haven't taken a measurement on anything but I'm considering swapping the entire suspension from the Ford when I go 4wd.

I know I'm not him, but I can tell you we had a 6.0 powered 550 at work and it rode hilariously bad. Our 450s rode like the 350s because they had the same springs, just bigger axles and 10 lug wheels. I don't recall the tires killing the ride on the 450, but those were newer 6.7 trucks. So if I had to guess, the 550 I drove rode like a 3500HD and the 450s rode nicer. Are you getting 450 axles with the good turning radius or bad? I forget which years that was.
