I have to say that those headlights are really nice. I didn't care if they didn't sit perfectly in the grill but they are decent enough for just stabbing them in. I will use Pearl's brackets when we tear it down simply because these just don't feel like they are as good as the stock brackets.

Alignment was almost spot on straight out of the box. I brought them both up a little bit and I'm happy.

The light output is impressive. I didn't bother with doing a 4 high mod and the bulbs are some that I robbed the pigtails off of. The low beams both have dark burnt spots on the glass and I probably have some that are better but I get cold easy and I was ready to be done so self preservation was required. As it was the temperature was in the high 40's and I was bundled up with 2 shirts, 2 hoodies, jeans, 2 pairs of thermal socks and boots. I was in a full body shiver that required a 20 minute shower to recover from. Perhaps I'll look for bulbs another time but most likely not.

About the only other things that I might do to make it nicer before tear down is wiper blades, short side boards and possibly some white plastidip for the bumper filler and flares. I don't want to create more work for when I repaint Pearl so there is no reason to use white paint when those parts will be gloss black.

Once again I want to mention that other than the purchase price, we haven't spent any additional money on the truck.

If they're like the headlights I used to have, something will be off just enough that you're stuck with their brackets. It looks like this truck is growing on you now. The longer you wait, the harder it'll be to tear into it.

It won't hard at all. I'm going to the welder this morning to see if there is enough frame underneath that if I had another frame if it has enough material. The frame is a different height underneath the cab. I have located another almost bare chassis.

all the "factory" crew cab 3500HD's were originally single cabs. The cabs and frames were stretched by GM (no other contracted companies). If you run a 4 door 3500HD vin, it will come back as a two door.

I don't believe they ever made an extended cab 3500HD, not at the factory anyway. I'm sure there have been some custom made.

That is one of the reasons why I'm going to section the cab, I want to keep the 3500hd VIN. I've never heard that it was stretched straight from GM. I know that the Centurion 1500s that were stretched also started out liife as standard cabs but Centurion stretched the frames and cabs.
