So probably this week or next I’m going to order a new grille for my truck, I’m not a big fan of chrome so I’m getting a painted grille instead. I still need a new emblem though so I wondering if you guys know any online sites that sell nice emblems for the obs :3

I have been looking into this since the bowtie came apart years ago on the Burb. When the collision repair shop replaced the grille, they didn't put the bolt on part of the bowtie back into the new grille. I had hoped they would since I still have the plastic cover part. My plan before the wreck was to clean up the plastic cover, wet sand it and then shoot touch-up paint on it to match the Burb (pewter, GM's favorite color dontcha know!) I have tried to remove good un delaminated bowties from busted yard grilles, but the little legs apparently are designed to snap off when you put any turning force on them. And I am not interested in spending a C note for a new one!

If you want to restore your original bowtie, remove, and sand. Start with 400 grit-600-and finish with 800, could go to 1000. Wipe with alcohol and then spray with amber tinted laquer. Once completely dried, seal with a UV protective clear coat.
Many think it’s clear plastic with gold foil underneath, but it’s actually silver foil. It is the amber tint that makes it look gold.
These we’re still available from GM(about $120 on ebay)last year, I just noticed they are discontinued, now they’re over $200 if you find a seller.

Wow... It looks like the red and black 454SS/Sport bowties are discontinued as well. Glad I grabbed extras of that and the gold one years ago when they were around $60 each.
