8.25 diff internal surface damage?

These are a few sample pics of a 8.25 diff i plan on cleaning up and regearing, the internal cavities have this cracking throughout, what would cause this and is this case a lost cause.

Don’t think you'll ever find one without those cracks. They’re just casting “defects”. As long as a crack isn’t wide (open) and/or goes through the cast, it’s fine.
