Does anyone know the exact differences in a 96 3500 dually frame compared to a 96 3500 single wheel frame?

Don't think there is gonna be much. Maybe the extra helper springs above the springs on the dually?

If not a C&C, crew cab is 5/16" thick and the rest are 1/4" thick. Pretty sure that's it.
There's no difference.

It’s completely dependent on cab/bed size. The longer the frame, more thickness is required. Some of the brackets/suspension are a little different for duallies but frame is the same (as are all 8 lugs).

Thats what I was thinking but wasn't positive. Mines 5/16" and this single wheel i found is only 1/4". Thanks

Crew cab single wheels were also 5/16" thick. I had an ECSB dually that was 1/4" thick. Far as I can tell crew cab was the delineator.
