I am replacing the air bags in a 1998 Chevy Silverado K1500 after they went off in a wreck. How many sensors are there? Beside replacing the sensors, what else do I need to replace? I know to pull the fuses and unconnected the battery.

Clock spring with drivers air bag. Control module under drivers seat, the part number is on it and must match !!! Passenger air bag, you will need to dye the cover or find a match. You will also need to fabricate a mount for it using the existing mount otherwise the dash needs to be removed. L bracket. The front sensor is in the middle mounted in front of the radiator on the bottom. There may be 2 sensors on the frame on the left and right sides in the front. Not sure just look for the yellow connectors. All the air bag connectors are bright yellow and easy to spot.

Just curious, why bother? Mice chewed the wires on my two front sensors many many moons ago, I still have seatbelts. All Good.

I am in the process of doing this as well, on a 1998 suburban.

Airbags are needed to pass an inspection to register a salvaged vehicle.

Can anyone confirm the number of sensors? I have only found the one under the driver seat and the one under the radiator support bracket.

Also, on the previous comment "Control module under drivers seat, the part number is on it and must match !!!"
Does this mean the module must match all the other components? Or must match the original part #? I was going to use a complete system from a donor.
