Yep, thats why you do it outdoors and away from anything important. I have the welding cables stretched as far as they can go with a barrier between the battery and welder. Ive had a few hydrogen pops (some call them explosions) from the off-gassing and static discharge spark. Also had a couple with shorted or open cells from freezing, those dont do anything, they just dont take a charge between those cells and only boil the cells that are intact. You just hold onto those for core's when buying new batteries, no saving them.
"some call them explosions" ... I just spit out my coffee. Thanks for the laugh.

Definitely make sure you are well shielded from the battery when you attempt this and as said earlier battery is well away from anything that you care about. I have seen several battery cases explode violently in the surround the battery was inside of when a commercial charger was energized.

What's the difference between that and a 200A jump start function on a nice, old, dumb battery charger?
My dad had an old school charger and it's mine now. It's beat to crap but it does what it's told and that's why I love it.

Every time I go to a garage sale and I see one of the old "dumb" chargers, I buy it. They flat out work better than any of the newer chargers. Hit the battery with a high amperage for about 15 minutes to burn off any short traces between the plates, let it cool, and then charge for a day on the lowest setting. Nearly always works.

Anyone using the antigravity battery? It's lightweight and lithium. Tried searching but I can't find any for the trucks their website only had it for camros and corvettes

Wow, If you can afford a $1,000 battery go for it but you'll have to convert to top-post battery terminals. You need to search by group size, that H6 will fit just fine. Otherwise a H5 will also, it'll just look wimpy under your hood, lol.

Everybody knows…
Be that as it may....on flashlights and other things that use AA/AAA/C and D batteries, I've always had better service from Duracell than I ever got from the rabbit batteries. And I know when Sam's Club had Energizer branded car batteries, we had to warranty both of them within six months of purchase. Apparently they had a lot of this, because they had changed to Duracell brand...those lasted for 3 years or more(which is about the best service I get from a car or truck battery in Houston, Texas area).

Was joking, I prefer Duracell as well. My truck however keeps going and going with Walmart Everstart Max.

Regarding Antigravity and other Lithium automotive batteries... I can see the appeal. The weight savings is nice, as is the ability to "jump start" the vehicle with reserve capacity by pressing a button on the battery case. But...

Lithium is a much more volatile battery chemistry than standard lead acid or AGM. I'm not sure which specific lithium chemistry these companies are using, but some of them are particularly nasty. Like spontaneously combusting gases if they rupture type of nasty. On top of that, I don't really see the point in saving 40lbs of weight out of one of these heavy trucks unless you've already stripped everything else possible and are chasing faster track times.

As always, diffrent strokes for diffrent folks, but personally I'll be sticking with AGMs.
