I Have a 98 Suburban that I originally bought for driving on forest service roads.
What I totally didn't think about is the lack of cabin filter.
The roads I'm driving are absolutely horrendous when it comes to dust.
The entire interior and my stuff is constantly covered in dust.

Has anyone ever managed to Macgyver a cabin air filter in these trucks?

I searched for it but not much came up. Is it really that hared to do, or most people don't drive dusty roads?

I appreciate any suggestion.
Thanks.

After looking into this a lot I decided I'm just going to get a nice air purifier instead. This is the one I plan on getting: https://a.co/d/2XTyRxA
Holy smokes! You better be able to bottle the air in your cabin and sell it on eBay after installing that thing.

On a more serious note: if that actually filters the cabin air adequately per your needs while driving those roads, it's a good investment.

I have pretty bad allergies and am also overly sensitive to smells. Easily worth getting something like this if it works well.

Wow, if you've got enough "throwaway money" for that, buy 2 and send one to me. I mean there's a reason I'm driving a vehicle that's over 22 years old...
I'm driving mine because it's a project, this is something I've wanted to do for most of my life. My grandpa always wanted to build up his truck but got cancer and was never able to.

I'm sure its a great air purifier, but it doesn't solve the problem of the huge amount of dust that still enters the cabin.

It looks like it is very hard to do or people just don't care to share their attempt as I can't find much online about this.
I'll take the fan out and see what can I do to add some kind of a filter.

On a side note... does anyone know whether the rear fan is drawing air from the outside or form the cabin?

There is a piece of sheet metal you would need to cut out under the wiper cowl to get access to the intake to take measurements, you have to find a filter that fit, then make a housing to sit over the intake to hold the filter, then replace the metal you cut out hopefully in a removable way for future filter changes, needs a weather seal also so you dont get water pouring down through into the filter. Sounds easy in concept, especially if you have a 3d printer to make the filter holder thing

Adding a filter would probably reduce your airflow to an already underpowered hvac system

I think the fact that you can’t find anything on this is telling, in that, there just isn’t a good option. They’ve been around for 35 years and I’ve never heard of any either.
