Oreilly batteries are usually East Penn. There are a few exceptions where Johnson Controls make them, but the part number ends in a J. From memory Johnson controls makes Autozone and Walmart batteries as well as Optima now. Our Kubota tractor has a battery from Tractor Supply in it. Priced closely to what Walmart sells them for and a 2 year warranty. Other than that when I was at a Nissan dealership Interstate supplied our batteries in a black case with a Nissan label. Once they ran out of Nissan labeled units and relabeled Toyota labeled batteries to restock our shelf. They were straight garbage. On the other hand the Deep Cycles on my travel trailer are Interstate and they have been on it since I bought it in 2015. They are still alive. I think the big difference there is I am able to keep the batteries topped off with electrolyte on it unlike the sealed garbage. At one time I had the best luck with Johnson Controls AGM batteries (Autozone Duralast Platinums). My Express van got 6 years out of the first one. Then they went down hill. About the same time Autozone eliminated the ProRata warranty that was 8 years on them and dropped to a straight 3 year warranty. They were not worth the money after that, considering a normal lead acid would last the same (post PCM controlling the alternator) for half as much.

PCM controlling the alternator in both my Express and Tahoe nearly doubled how long a normal lead acid maint free battery lasted in them. Also eliminates having to trickle charge a battery.

I don't really much care about my battery brand anymore considering there's like 15 brands and 3 manufacturers, seems like they last a random amount of time. I've had plenty of cheap junky batteries last 7+ years, and just recently I had whatever the best one was at Oreillys last exactly 1 month past the warranty.

I bought an Interstate once, it was still going after 5 years. Green color means more gooder electricity or something.

This thread was helpful and determining that almost all batteries seem to be hit or miss except for Odyssey batteries in which I will now be shopping for . I have had very good luck with my 2 out of 3 Napa Intimidator agm batteries which are East Penn 2 of them lasted 7 years 1 lasted 4(the most recent one). Thank you to all for the replies.

I concur with the Odyssey batteries. I had one in my Grand National for 8 years with no issues. It was getting a little slow to crank so replaced it this year with another Odyssey battery.
Pricey, but works out since they tend to last much longer.

Yes I think the reliability factor plays into it alot too, I don't want to change a battery in the parking lot after work at 30 below 0 . With the Odyssey it seems to have very good reviews and very few early failures. Seen there is also some company the race car and monster truck guys use called XS batteries and there is also another called Braille that Speedways sells to the streetrod crowd don't know nothing about these two.
