I actually price shopped that one for a few seconds too, it was $2400 in some other places.

The Flowmaster "49 state" cat assembly for my red truck ('97 C1500 4.3L) is about $570. The only reason I know that is because the second Magnaflow I bought (yes bought, they wouldn't replace the first one) for that truck has broken something loose internally and started rattling/droning with very few miles on it.

Well my truck is only missing one, searched on magnaflow and their universal cat will fit on the truck. 50 state legal thankfully. Sadly it’s $850

I guess I'm doing pretty good with mine. I got low 9.2 - 9.3 times back in July with an OBD scanner test. Only change since new is exhaust. Everything else is still stock. I feel pretty good with these times at 200k+ miles on Kumho passenger tires as well.

So apparently I got the vin records provided by Caman96, thank you by the way. Good news is the truck doesn’t need another cat. Bad news is it’s because it’s a 5.0 Vortec, not a 5.7. Huge facepalm. So this Saturday I’m gonna take the truck to get it smog and make sure to let the guys know that it’s a 5.0 engine. Which sucks because my plans to supercharge the truck went down the drain but it happens. I was going to plan to do a 5.3 swap on the future but to go through that trouble especially in California, buying the engine, all the parts needed for a swap and hope to Jesus that it passes inspection just isn’t worth the money and I think I’ll just make the truck into a nice daily, lower it, switch the chrome parts for painted ones and call it a day.

Bummer about the 5.0. Would make a good daily still. Plans change, lord knows mine have about a dozen times on my ‘95. The good news is that 5.7 trucks are all over the place and still not stupid expensive. Maybe you’ll find one.

Meh I rather not spend the money to buy another truck, I already have two. Got a 2.7 Tacoma that’s currently my daily but planning to use it as a work truck as I am making plans to start a detailing business so I can buy parts for the obs.
