Noticed you have a steering extension, does it have a body lift? i'd recommend using a Cunningham lower shaft and add 3" body lift to notes when ordering.unless that extension is welded they have tons of play!
+ and deletes rag joint with spline shaft u-joint

supersteer idler arm bracket SS170- they use a taper bearing,I replaced a 500 mile stock bracket with it and huge difference.does exactly what they advertise
cognito steering brace's 110-90245 - keeps idler/pitman solid,toe in check,

but a few of us have gone all out with,
psc xd steering box
kryptonite pitman they also make a stronger centerlink, and tie rod's/sleeves
moog problem solver or proforged idler arm
mevotech ttx tie rods/cunningham tie rod sleeves
ttx upper/lower balljoint's
96+ wolffeng GM109SS Lower Steering Column Bearing upgrade
Cunningham upper or stock u-joint upper vs blob joint (in some trucks)
bds or rancho steering stablizer bracket kit

best steering stuff out there for 4x4 gmt400's
Well said my friend ^^^.

Good eye! I didn't even know that was an extension, but yeah it had a 3" body lift. So with the 4" suspension lift I won't need the extension? I'll look into the super steer and the Cunningham lower

They are only used for body lifts, here is a copy/paste from the cunningham steering shaft thread i posted in shaft thread that explains it

for 3" body lift a extended shaft is also available, just ask for it in the notes before you checkout.I never ran the PA
steering extension that came with my kit (96+ style) as there is way to much play trying to run it,There is also play if you dont run one,Alot less and hardly noticeable if you try to look but it's there,After this my steering is so much more tight!!

Just my two cents... If you've taken a vehicle apart to this degree, you kind of want to do everything. Doesn't make sense to put it all back together with old stuff, and then get nickel and dimed with every little component breaking later on.

I agree, I'm at that point where I'm already 3k in it, will rarely drive it but also want it to last my life and my son's. So really the only old stuff I'm using is diffs, xfer case, trans, fuel tank and was thinking could skim out on new center link, steering gear and shaft

The SuperSteer is discontinued recently. If you dig, you’d probably find one, but you will pay a premium. They are awesome though. I agree with post #14, now is the time, will be more difficult and more expensive later. But great job so far!
I see what looks like a new 3/1 leaf pack, probably too late but I would’ve gone with a 4/1. Sits a bit higher, a bit firmer, but all in a good way.

That’s what I thought. Did you cut your original to get torsion bar out?

I'll be the one to buck the trend here. When it comes to tie rod ends, idler/pitman arms, I generally only replace what's worn. For me, those parts last a long damn time. I have almost 300k on my truck and to date have only replaced a single tie rod end. Idler once and pitman three times. The new stuff isn't as good as what GM put on there.
