If money is no object and you want the best, IMO it's hard to beat an Odyssey Extreme AGM. I haven't seen anything with better specs or warranty. The one I use in my '97s (ODX-AGM34/78) is 68AH, 850CCA, 135 minute reserve capacity, and comes with a four year free replacement warranty. Not cheap though. I run them in all of my vehicles, only had to replace one so far and it was around eight years old. I switched to Odyssesy after two Optima Yellow Tops died on me in less than a year.

You can purchase Odysseys from a local dealer like Battery Outfitters if you have one (this is what I would recommend if you have the option) or from Amazon or Summit Racing. You can also get them directly from Odysseybattery.com. Here's the one I use in my trucks.

EDIT - I had the wrong link, corrected that.

Hate to admit it, but the Walmart Everstart Maxx is for the money, probably your best buy. Warranty duration for free replacement is better than the Interstate, and considering how many Walmarts there are around the country, you can get it replaced about anywhere.

There are only 2 or 3 companies still making batteries in the US. Most are the same battery with a different wrapper.

I buy batteries from walmart and they do fine. I had a autozone gold whatever in my Saturn that my brother in law probably had installed and it lasted 10 years.

As mentioned there are only a few actual manufacturers, but I would assume there are choices to be made when a retailer is buying.

Ac delco batteries that I've seen come from Korea. I'm curious if those are retail only or if oem are also korean.

There is nothing particular about our trucks that require a special battery - get one that is convenient (Walmarts. autozone, etc) that have good warranties. As others have mentioned, there are only a couple of actual manufacturers, so you are buying the convenient location of the retailer and the warranty. AGMs not withstanding.

What I'm using in my crew cab is the Duracell branded group 78 battery from Sam's Club. So far so good, and it has a 3 year warranty IIRC (as long as my + membership is current!). The one in the Burb is one from O'Reilly's, a Super Start or whatever their brand is.
Most brands of regular car/truck batteries last 3 years or a few months more, in Houston, Texas conditions. Hot humid summers, cool damp winters, and lots of underhood heat no matter what time of year.
I agree about batteries being made by a couple of companies, that put whatever brand name on them...but when Sam's Club had the Energizer branded ones, they didn't last as long! The Duracell branded ones seem to last much longer. Just like the flashlight batteries; I don't like to use anything but Duracell.

That really stinks that batteries go bad do fast down south. I get double that, easily here in Michigan....if I dont let them discharge and freeze.

I had a pair of Interstate batteries die their 2nd year of existence back in 2019 in my camper. They got replaced with a pair of Walmart batteries that have been fine ever since.
