Fought with crank relearn today, to no avail….
Following the instructions posted in the 454 thread but still getting misfires and P0300….
And icing on the cake, my water pump is leaking. Looks like where it attaches to the block… so my rtv job failed.

One of those days..

I *think* the crank relearn saga is solved.... full thread here on the blow-by-blow.

Started in on fixing my leaking water pump, but ran out of time half way through. I should have that done tomorrow and take the truck for a decent drive and see if my misfire weirdness is resolved and I can move forward with some more fun stuff.

Took my busted water pump back to Autozone to get it swapped... they agreed to comp me 3 gallons of lost coolant in the process... can't complain too much I guess.
I don't hardly bother with AutoZone parts anymore; if it's an in-store "brand" it's NAPA or bust.
Pretty cool of them to honor the warranty and comp the coolant, I doubt my AZ would do that.

You know it’s funny… I’m the same way, but for whatever reason I went with AutoZone for the water pump in the case, I think it’s because their website is actually pretty good and I did an online order/pickup.

I’ve even been of a mind to stay acdelco as much as possible… but I just replaced the water pump on my suburban this summer with acd and unless you buy the $300 “oe quality” one, it’s basically the same mid grade Chineseum that they all seem to be.. There was definitely a casting flaw on this pump that would seep coolant, but only when it came up to temp and coolant pressure got high.

So I dunno… was also looking at billet aluminum options haha because it seems like these cast pumps are all kinds of trash, but again $$$$…

If I have another problem with the az pump I’ll probably look at other options, and keep the lifetime warrantied piece of poo-poo as Tommy Boy says, on the shelf as a spare.

Not a truck update but a life update plus some GMT800 action.

Truck is back together and and I think the misfire etc is resolved, but I haven’t had time to take it for a real test drive yet. And today I needed to go pick something up, so employed the ‘burb’ for towing duty.

It’s Woodmizer LT40. I ordered it in March of 2021, so been a long time coming.

Got big plans for it. Stay tuned-

Meantime, hopefully this weekend get a good test drive in and make sure the truck is good, then get my Wideband installed and start actually tuning it.

Those WoodMizers are no joke, my best friend's pawpaw bought one a year or two back and used it 3 or 4 times, but unfortunately his old age caused him to not be able to run it anymore. He's ran it by me about logging out some of the pines on his property and running them through it but like everything else we haven't had the time to mess with it.

This thing is fighting me hard!

Ran a couple errands around town and went over to my dads, where the sawmill is… pulled into the driveway and lost heat… great I thought, now what.. pulling up the temp was about pegged… good timing at least got me to a spot I could leave it…

The hose clamp on the lower radiator hose busted.

Well at least it isn’t some mystery to troubleshoot. I’ve put so much freaking coolant in this truck in the last month…!

Well had my wife come pick me up and I’ll get it patched up tomorrow.

Meanwhile also still fighting some misfires, but it’s drivable. Contemplating putting the oem distributor back in and see if that solves it.

Going to cut some logs up tomorrow for the first time, I’m looking forward to it!

Weird. I've never seen a worm drive clamp do that. When I used them, I always bought US made, all stainless clamps from the plumbing dept, Though. My truck has mostly OEM clamps on it. People don't like fighting with the constant tension band clamps, but they do work very well. One of these days, I'm going to get the special pliers to remove and install them much easier.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you cut up.
