Well, the VIN has been decoded. For those paying attention, this is the FIRST '88-'91 that compnine.com was able to decode for me. I've tried 5 or 6 others in those early years with zero results. '92-'98s are never a problem.

I think I may have asked you this before in another thread, but have you ever tried re-running those VINs since then? I seem to remember running one there years ago and not getting any results, but then I ran it again a few weeks later and it popped up.

I ran the "failed" ones (call 'em that 'cause they made me feel like I failed) several times over a few week period, but it's been quite a while since I've tried.
So if anyone has had me try their VIN and didn't get results, hit me up again. Doesn't hurt to try.
Good call @df2x4 !

@1ton-o-fun Thanks again for doing this! Yet another reason that this forum is awesome.
I feel the need to to do this BECAUSE this forum is awesome! It's a very tiny gesture of appreciation for all the knowledge, comeradery and friendships to be found in this forum. Happy to share!

Oh well, thanks for trying!
That was my luck even with Compnine (and asking a friend that worked at a GM dealer) any time I asked for an older GMT400 to be decoded. 1988-1989 very often wouldn't come up.. and that was back in 2008-2010. The only newer one that didn't come up was a single 1997 model that nobody could figure out why. Glovebox was already missing so I couldn't just manually decode the SPID label. Parts truck anyway, but I always liked to decode them for my own informational purposes.
