Anyone have any thoughts on your hidden antennas? I see where members have talked about wanting to do it from way back, but no threads on how to. The sheet metal is the easy part for me. I was wondering if you could just take the fishing rod and relocate it to the inner fender and still have reception, or are those hidden ones online worth the money.

Is there already a thread on it? If not, for those who’ve done it, what advice would you have?

I did the hidden antenna mod on my nbs tahoe several years ago and just ran the factory antenna inside the fender. It worked great. I personally HATE antennas, I cut every one I have in half or run a short old school billet. Reception is pretty good for the most part.

I might or will install an electric retractable antenna in the 93 GMC K1500 xtd cab sb, when it's getting close to being done for off road, desert explorer project. Just an alternative.
Good luck!

I did one of the electronic antennas on a friend's car when she had some custom work done and wanted to shave the antenna. It worked OK; maybe not great, but I didn't know what the local station reception was like with her stock antenna as I got into the project midstream.

I've seen some where they take the factory antenna and mount it lengthwise under the cab along the passenger frame rail - might be an option for you. I'd expect some degradation in reception due to position but if you're not trying to pull in far-away stations it may be totally fine.

People still listen to the radio?
I do, sometimes, because it's there and just works. Hit the button and it's playing. Might have to thumb the station button a few times on the steering wheel until I get something that isn't awful or an obnoxious commercial...if all else fails just turn it back off.

I've added aux inputs and bluetooth receivers to my OEM head units. They work OK. Problem is I'm the type doesn't like to leave bluetooth turned on unless I'm using it, and I also hate leaving apps running on my phone unless I'm using them. So when it's time for me to listen to a particular album/playlist/etc. from my phone, I gotta turn bluetooth on, let it pick which vehicle from the list to connect to, flick that drop-down away, open the player app, let it inexplicably scan my media card for the millionth time until the choices appear, pick what I want to hear, be sure the HU is in aux mode, and play...

First world problems, right? We got it so rough
