Man this is quite a thread, read some, skimmed some….

I must have some junk tier clear lense eBay break replacement lenses on my truck… the insides are all corroded, and the bulbs don’t even stay set correctly in the socket… also the adjusters don’t work at all…

So I am in need of replacing some things and keep going in circles with a w/t front end conversion -I have some glass h4 5x7s sitting on a shelf- vs getting a be set of lenses. Always hated composite lenses so w/t front was kind of a shoe-in, until I saw the glass spiders existed….

I think my biggest question, is how are the adjusters on the Spyders? I can’t reuse what I have because it’s trash and the oe stuff is long gone.

At this point I’m this close to spyders/diy high 4 relay harness/Philips night guide platinums…

Got to do something because the lights as they are now are literally unusable at night, let alone any inclement weather….

Basically, talk me out of my plan and tell me w/t front end is the only way…

It's not the only way, but IMO it's the best way. If you do it, I'd go with modern LED headlights though. The W/T grille enables you to run new 5"x7" LED housings that are designed from the ground up for optimal performance. TruckLite 27450C for example:

Holley has recently released their "RetroBright" LED housings too, honestly these are what I would go with today if I were doing a W/T grille. The "Classic White" 3000K color temp is much closer to a standard halogen bulb than the 5000K-ish range of most other options. Which is a good thing, the more yellow light is easier for your eyes to use.

If you prefer the look of the composite housings, there is a better option than the Spyders available now. Arteb is a Brazilian company that makes OEM headlights for GM (and probably others) in that part of the world. They make some for these trucks, and they've got a much better reflector and lens design than the composite housings we got here in the US. When we first discussed them in this thread years ago they were unavailable as they could only be purchased in Brazil. @1998_K1500_Sub made it possible for us to get them here in the states finally, more info here:

Note that with any of the composite housings, you'll want to stick with halogen bulbs.

Now you know what I'm going to say, right? Lol...If I couldn't find a Cibie, I'd go with Daniel Stern's recommendation of the Koito H4s....with a relay harness, of course, and some good bulbs. Yes, I still use Phillips. I miss the conversations for sure.

I'm a big fan of the Spyders, I run them on my Suburban with a 4 high/HD harness. Nothing special on the bulbs, just good halogens. I would rather drive that rig at night than any other vehicle I own, or have owned. And that includes a 2017 F150 with the factory LEDs.

I'm going to read some of these Arteb threads. Man, we sure covered a lot back then...Mayhaps I'll have money for these fukerz one day after I fix the truck.
