What do you mean long reach? Not familiar with that term.
The standard 193 TBI cast iron head takes 5/8" taper seat plugs. The Vortec head AND any aluminum head takes 3/4" long reach plugs. As an example, the last letters on an ACDelco plug is TS (Taper Seat) for TBI and LTS (Long Taper Seat) for Vortec.

I rarely hear anyone mention Head porting as a alternative sourse of gaining power. This guy focuses on the TBI heads and gains to be made without a lot of mods.

I'm confused. I thought in your earlier post you said in an aluminum head, you need long reach and gaskets instead of taper seat.

Yeah you're right, I should have said Vortec and aluminum heads take long reach but, aluminum heads take gasket seat. :33:

Edit: I changed that post.

So the Summit heads I ordered keep getting the delivery pushed back. It's very frustrating. My engine builder says they have a set of these heads in stock. Any experience with Liberty heads?
They are an angled plug so I will need to check and see if the headers I bought will still work. I also don't know if they work with a stock intake. I was set to explore Flo-Tek when the builder presented this option.

Find out where the casting comes from. The sad fact is that companies that choose patriotic-sounding names often are hiding their connections to their Communist Chinese suppliers.

Lookin' at you, Eagle Specialty Products, Pro Maxx "Freedom" cylinder heads, Patriot Performance, and "Ohio" Crankshaft.

I went with a comp roller cam, but I used a tbi block that had the spider provisions. (Fortunate to have connections with an engine remanufacturer and they were nice enough to go through the cores and find one for me) I also used enginequest heads, tbi intake pattern with a vortec style chamber. Stock intake, tbi that I modified (see ultimate tbi mods) however I did not have it bored out. Has a 1” tbi spacer also. Came off the dyno at 311 hp and 385ft-lbs.

Nice, was that FWHP or RWHP?

Fwhp. There’s more that was left on the table, but we reached the limits of the stock injection and ecm. Someday maybe I’ll be able to play more with the computer and retune it e
