As the title says, I'm looking for a chemical to clean and prepare the factory paint on my crew cab rear fenders, before I paint a small cartoon on their corners. Truck is a '97 with original paint that seems to be in really good condition (considering this was a farm truck stored outside) and I don't want to mess that up. The cartoons will be done in sign painter's enamel.
Since I know some of our group are in the collision repair and automotive paint trades, I would appreciate y'all's professional opinion. Maybe I'm overthinking this? Thanks in advance!

buff or polish to bring the shine up where you want it. Think about how hard it would be to buff or polish afterwards and not damage your cartoon. Clean with wax and grease remover. if using a stencil, I would scuff inside the stencil carefully with scotchbrite. If freehanding, you will not be able to scuff. I have only used One Shot a few times in a pinstripe roller, it stuck to clean paint. It would be best to check the prep steps from the sign paint manufacturer.

Any quality w&g remover for automotve painting will work. Pretty lame answer I know, but they mostly do the same thing. Wipe on with wet rag, wipe off with dry rag while it's still wet. I see you're in Stafford. DNT Autobody parts should have what you need.
