Can you please post pics of how the support bars go on the engine accessory bracket?
I took mine off to do some work and forgot how they went?
I have a 1995 c2500. It has the 350
My brains are just in the toilet today...
Thanks in advance guys

My '88 has three bars from accessories to intake manifold. No photos, it's torn apart at the moment. Replacing intake gaskets...again. And when it's not raining, it's too hot to work on it. So this project is dragging on forever.

1. Rear of alternator to boss on manifold beside TBI throttle linkage.

2. Back of belt tensioner to right-side studded bolt on thermostat housing.

3. Back of A/C compressor to boss on manifold near ESC module. My current manifold doesn't have this boss; the steel strut hasn't been connected on that end for two years.

No promises on your '94 being the same. I have a one-piece stamped-steel accessory bracket; I think the newer engines and all the cars used a two-piece aluminum bracket set to hold the alternator, ps, A/C, etc.

Schurkey, your '88 is different because your truck should have the stamped steel one piece accessory bracket, where around '90-up has the cast aluminum two piece - it has two support bars. One off the A/C and one off the tensioner. The alternator is fully supported by its cast aluminum bracket along with the stamped steel portion that goes down to the exhaust manifold.

Hope this helps OP? It's a pic from my '94. The engine lift bracket also attaches under the tensioner support rod; the lift bracket uses 2 studs for the front driver side corner attachment to intake, so that the tensioner support rod attaches with a nut on top.

The air cleaner and pcv rigid hose are slightly obscuring it, but the A/C compressor support rod attaches on an intake stud on top of the bracket for the EGR solenoid (also shared with ESC module on earlier trucks.)

One more question for @someotherguy . How do I get my genuine bay looking sexy like that? Dammit that's nice
Heh, it's actually kind of a halfass job. Didn't clean everything, didn't replace everything that could have been done (like a full tune-up) - but you can see just how bad it was before I began. I was under the gun on time for doing intake gaskets; needed my truck back. http://someotherplace.com/bb/proj/rh94intake.html

The "during disassembly" pics in that write-up should help most TBI small block guys with stuff like fastener placement (which intake bolts are studs, and which size studs, etc.) and more.

Question: how necessary are those brackets? One of my mechanic friends said that those are not necessary at all (when I was doing my motor swap). I argued that GM put them there for a reason and they WILL go back; so they did.

Yeah. Godaddy screwed me on a domain I've had for almost 20 years, holding it hostage over their technical ineptness. Not a fan.

A few days ago I revived that write-up, with pics and all, right here on the forums - the moderators made it a sticky post, check it out: https://www.gmt400.com/threads/tbi-small-block-intake-gasket-replacement-pic-heavy.60383/
