It's not even the parts to convert, but for what people want for a tired worn out 12 valve could put 3 LS's in....I'd love a 12v, but can't justify the price..

I love an LS swap probably more than most folks here, but honestly I would run what you got till it don't run anymore.

A stock gen 3/4 5.3 isn't going to be particularly impressive with power or economy in a Suburban.

My .02c, with the Canadian conversion, probably less.
Ya the LS makes more power, in the upper RPM range. More revs = more gas used. Plus with a swap, now you are into nickles and dimes, questionable wiring, making gauges and transmission work, hunting gremlins....etc.
I would price out a crate 350 or 383, undo some bolts and wiring connections, yank the pig, reverse the process and enjoy living hassle free.
