Ok I just plugged the TPS back in and sprayed brake cleaner all around the intake manifold where the upper and lower halves come together and around the injectors as much as I could. I did not hear any indication of a vacuum leak.

With the TPS plugged back in I played with it in the driveway for a bit going forwards and reverse, neutral, with and without using the brakes.
The symptoms come and go randomly, none of my inputs had anything to do with how it is acting.
The issue has to be either a sensor or the ECM. But which sensor?
I don’t think it’s a bad wiring harness or connection because the symptoms come and go erratically, like a sensor giving the ECM wacky numbers, or the ECM itself is bad.

I’m just thinking out loud here.

Get a scanner on the 454, and start looking at sensor values.... O2s and fuel trims. If you've got an exhaust leak it could be throwing the O2's way off, and the PCM will try to adjust the mixture according to false readings. Also see what it thinks the temperature is, as it's warming up, and when/if it's switching from open loop, to closed loop.

It might not hurt to clean the throttle body. Remove the IAC and TPS and scrub it up with an old tooth brush. I'd use carb cleaner on the throttle bidy and then use electronics cleaner on the sensors. You can follow up with soap and water on the throttle body. Make sure it's all dry and put it back together. You can probably re-use the throttle body gasket. Last time I did mine, I replaced the gasket since I had re-used the original one on a prior cleaning.

You can spray the MAF out too, while it's all apart.... there is MAF cleaner, but I've just used electronics cleaner.

The 93 diesel has suffered this winter.
Stupid me parked the thing 4 months ago and never really checked it over after buying it.
Yesterday I went to start it and in the process I checked the coolant, which wasn’t coolant at all but actually solid ice, very very low but still ice.
Then I added coolant and found that one of the freeze plugs has been pushed out of the block! Yay!
I can’t wait to try and get a new one in there!

Sold the white 97 4 door 1 ton, it had problems and I’m a single guy without kids so no need for a 4 door.

The 93 has a bad 141 block, I may buy a 599 block that needs a piston.
I still plan to keep and drive this one.

The green 97 is going strong as my daily driver. I may keep this truck forever or I may sell it after completing the 93, I’ll see how I feel at that point.

I also have another project that has taken the front seat over the 93, it’s a 1968 Chevy c30. It doesn’t need a whole lot to get back on the road, in fact in less than a week I should be driving it.

Not crazy about a flatbed, but I've always loved the 67-72s.

This is my first flat bed and I’m liking it. The truck is actually a ton and a half, not a regular 1ton. 157” wheelbase, 14,000lb GVW, and I’m keeping it all original. Just making it a driver.

It’s all original already, 1968 only 327, sm465, rear end is a HO110 with 6.17:1 gearing.
