The WAI alternator is the same as the NAPA HO alternators when looking at the specs on NAPA it says manufactured by WAI and NAPA offers a lifetime warranty on them but charges like double compared to Rock Auto.

Rock Auto also has a WAI High output CS130 a little better than the 130D, and a ad244 which would be best. Both these alternators have the oval plug. Your CS130d will have a square plug.

the first plug is for PCM controlled GM alternators. there is no way to make it work on our trucks.

I just did a quick Google search on "DB Electrical Alternators" and the forum post results were not great. Within a couple minutes I found multiple people reporting issues with them and they're apparently made in China. I wouldn't...
Show me an aftermarket "NEW" alternator (or starter) and I'll show you "Made in China".

If this were me, I'd be scouring the Treasure Yard for a bigass OEM alternator from whatever application needs high output. Better a used, Genuine GM alternator than a brand-new Communist China knockoff.

There is at least one option for a US made (or so they claim) new production high output alternator (Kran mentioned them, DC Power Engineering), but they are not cheap. For example:

https://www.dcpowerinc.com/products/7861-270-xp-gmc-ck-4-3l-v6?rq=yr_1993~mk_gmc~md_ck~le_5-7l

That's the cheapest item in their catalog for a 1993 K1500 5.7L at $630.

I agree that a treasure yard high output alternator is probably the best budget conscious option for this application. Here's a couple threads that people have posted about swapping to AD244s on TBI trucks.

You know if your not familiar with the different connectors. Get any of the 400 series service manuals in section eight it tells you shows you how to depin the square or oval or whatever plug, connector. Then you insert the wires/ pins into the new mating plug body/ connector shell. And Shazam your ready to plug into new or upgraded alternator.
And you can do this with a majority of connectors/ plugs on GM trucks. If you can avoid cutting, chopping splicing in to existing wires, try using depin and repin.
It was designed for that purpose. Obviously if you treat it like an eight hundred pounds Gorilla you will be replacing the whole part with new. Work smarter.
Good luck.
PS. On 95 and earlier trucks mine 350/ 5.7, if you install factory hd alternator, needs 1 inch longer belt and factory added three support rods on back for larger case, check a parts source with good factory illustration, you'll see.
On 96 and later Vortec like my Tahoe. To install the factory hd 200 amp alternator you need the bracket off a hd installation to support the bigger case. No longer availably from OEM, treasure yard or fab' copy duplicate. And takes a 1 inch longer serp belt. Good luck.

I found a few 2007-2010 police tahoes with the 160 high output. Only concern is reliability; as they stay running pretty much 90% of time. Is that just chance that the windings are still good or should i steer clear of them so to speak and look for a non police model
