Anyone using one ? Interested in if they last . And if they willcharge at idle - low rpm.. currently only have a 100amp factory cs130. But when i throw the light bar on, use the winch, i can really watch the volts drop. Doing the big 3/5 ground upgrade now. So mite as well upgrade while i got it tore down.

honestly i would go with a household name manufacturer like mechman or dc power for larger than factory alternators. hairpin alternators have much better idle output versus the old style slot wound alternator. also, large case alternators generally have higher idle (and driving) amperage output as well.

I thought all cs130 & 244ad alternator were roughly same size cases

also i cant really afford mechman / dc power.. i only have a budget of 200-250.

thats the size difference. ad244 are large case. cs130 is small case i believe. even a large case 150a alternator will have a higher idle output than a 150a small case. at least on vortec trucks, an ad244 is a direct swap, may just need a longer belt if anything. im not sure about your 93, i think they used an old square style connector on those versus newer oval style.

budget is totally understandable. if you have a pick n pull you can definitely try to find a newer GM truck and pull the alternator from there but make sure the plug is a 4 pin wide oval (may only have 3 pins populated) and not 2 pin wide plug because GM switched to PCM controlled alternators mid-late 2000s. im not sure how much ad244's are for early 2000s chevys but may be worth looking into. if you do find one at a pick n pull you'll probably need to steal the connector off it too and replace your existing plug with it (or buy an adapter harness if you dont want to cut/splice). my 99 had a single brown wire on the factory alternator harness, wired to the L terminal on the alternator itself, and that was all that was needed to turn on a new alternator.

i'm sure someone else may have better ideas, but thats just my opinion.

I see plenty of new ones for 125-150. , but i dont think they would actualy put out,, I dont mind the 200-250$ Honestly. And id rather not go junkyard pulling. I save that fir other things.

@Kran , so an ad244 with minimal mod work and different belt possibly will be better than a cs130?

in my opinion yes. i havent done that exact swap myself but ad244 is a better case design than cs130. gm still uses a similar style of ad244 to this day. i'd see what other people on this forum say though.

I just did a quick Google search on "DB Electrical Alternators" and the forum post results were not great. Within a couple minutes I found multiple people reporting issues with them and they're apparently made in China. I wouldn't...

i bought from them YEARS ago, so i was hoping they were still around. I honestly didnt check reviews. that sucks about quality. They had really good customer sevice, it used to be a small shop with “the good ol boy” feel to it. Guess like rest of world subbing outnto sup par parts & quality now.
