Tightness of the Arteb headlights to the OE grill: (cont'd from post #84)

Some Arteb owners have mentioned the "tightness" of the headlights to the grill, e.g., see my post #84 and @Supercharged111's post #45, @df2x4 in post #47, to name a few.

I've wondered whether one could "wiggle" the brackets around a bit, while their mounting bolts are loose, to gain some clearance from the grill. But I also know the brackets have molded-in "pins" to index them into holes on the radiator support, which disallows much wiggle-action.

I've posted a picture of the indexing pins (below, circled in red).

Perhaps someone could eliminate the pins (cut or file them), and perhaps even hollow-out the bolt holes, to gain some wiggle room.

BUT ALSO, as @someotherguy points out in post #49, there is a hole in the radiator support, behind each bracket, that may need to be made bigger as well. That hole is critical because it provides room for the adjusters to work (specifically, the Up/Down adjuster; see picture attached showing the adjuster screw peeking out of the bracket hole).

I was finally able to get some side-by-side comparison pics for everybody! The white truck has the ARTEBs and the black truck has ebay aftermarket headlights.

Just a note that the white truck has the upgraded 9011 high beams and Phillips extreme 9006 low beams. The black truck only has standard duty 9005 and 9006 so this is not a fair comparison at this point but it does show what 'standard' replacement looks like compared to the 'best' replacement.

I would like to throw the same bulbs in the black truck to see a real comparison but those little things are pricy! Anyway here are some pics. Both trucks have quad beam highs and both are in the same setting (low or high) in these pics. And also note, the white truck needs the drivers side adjusted slightly higher.

EDIT, I wish I could move images around so they show low beam/high beam comparisons... Mods help???

If it was links from an external image host (like imgur) then you could orient them however you like in the post based on location, but unfortunately with images uploaded directly to the forum I'm not sure if that's possible. I just opened up your fist post in the editor and I don't see any way to rearrange the images... Sorry!

Maybe someone else on staff knows?

@RichLo , You can go back, and delete the photos, then reload them in the order you want to. Or, if it's a side by side comparison you want, you would have to do, you would have to do that, before you load the image. For me to rearrange them for you, I would have to down load them, put the in the order you want, then reload them. Since IDK what order that is, I can't do it for you. If you can not do a split image, you should be able to find an app for that in Google play, or apple play. Then arrange the split images in the order you want them. Then edit you post, and load the new images in the order you want them. I have uploaded images before on here, and they are not in the order I want them, so I go back, and delete the ones that are not in the order I want them to be, then reload them the way I want them to be. I hope this helps.

The other night I decided to finally put my second Arteb back together, and cracked the white plastic pillar that the screw threads into. I guess I needed to drill it out more before running a longer screw in. My plan is to glue/epoxy it. Any advice on what to use? Will JB weld do it?

I just bought a tap that is looking positive to solving the adjuster issue. It's a 6mm-1.0 Bosch tap that I bought for $5 at Menard's. The adjuster screw goes into the white nylon gear much better now, and I haven't sprayed it with the Blaster Dry-Lube yet.

Also, here's the production sticker for the passneger side. It's actually on the bracket, not the housing itself.

I’ve found uploading photos one at a time allows you to arrange in order.

I never find photos of headlights to be a real reference on them. Seems like they are brighter in pictures than reality.
