Not 100% sure if this is the correct place to post but just wanted to share my results in redoing my old crusty steel wheels. I don't know how many people give this a shot seems like most just go aftermarket these days. These rims have brand new tires and I like the 3/4 ton a lot compared to the aluminum half ton wheels so I gave it a shot.

Looks fairly good up close and great from 15 feet. Got like 5 compliments the day after i did them!

I actually kind of like the factory silver but gloss black is what I had in the shop so i said why not. I think it looks really sharp. What do yall think?

Nice! The black shows off the chrome center cap and stainless steel trim ring well. Color matched steelies always look sharp in my book. Probably something I will eventually do on the big boy....

Thanks! Thats what I thought! I spent like a week on the internet and I couldnt find anyone who remanned the center caps or beauty rings so i went on youtube and saw a video of someone using an SOS pad on it. I gave it a shot and it worked better than I could have imagined. Took me like 30 minutes just for the one but well worth it imo.

Used to look like this

also the before and after center caps on the rear which i didnt paint yet

SOS pad took the cloudiness out and masked almost all scratches in it

All i did was an SOS pad. I went over it for a bit, wiped it off with a micro fiber, if it wasnt shiny enough for me i kept going till it was. Just went at it for 30 minutes or so. Some of them do have some actual damage to them like where the "chrome" is peeling off of it. Don't know how to fix that but they look good enough from 10 feet for now.

I like the black center caps. My plan is to leave mine shiny but if they continue to get worse condition with the chrome peeling I will probably just sand them down and paint them black. If I do that maybe I'll put the wheel back to silver to keep some contrast. Dunno yet.

My truck is the Cheyenne model, center caps are original black plastic. It was a W/T with the gray grill, chrome front bumper without the impact strip. Looked ugly and uncoordinated.
Now it's got a black grill, black painted bumper, black wheels, that match the black mirrors and door handles. Uniform color scheme. Not to mention the 35"s and 2wd lift kit.

Did you strip off the door emblems?
